El Festival Beckett Buenos Aires se crea en 2006 con motivo de celebrar el centécimo aniversario del natalicio de Samuel Beckett.
Fue el bar El Banderín el lugar de encuentro de Miguel Guerberof y Patrico Orozco, y desde allá se fue imaginando y construyendo un homenaje que pronto quedó grande y se transformó en festival.
Con el apoyo de quienes formaban parte del Beckett Teatro y de otros directores se programaron espectáculos de muy buen nivel y gran atractivo para el público.
El Primer Festival Beckett presentó una programación interesante entre los que se destacaron las propuestas de Miguel Guerberof con “Comedia”, y Patricio Orozco con el estreno en Argentina de “Rockaby” y “Ohio Impromptu”.
El 2007 fue un año muy difícil de transitar. El 12 de mayo fallecía Miguel Guerberof, uno de los referentes indiscutidos dentro de la escena nacional y motor fundamental para la concreción del festival.
El Festival, que Orozco tenía pensado organizar en Junio, se suspende y se pospone hasta el mes de agosto siguiendo bajo la dirección de Patricio Orozco. La nueva sede fue el Teatro La Carbonera. En este teatro tiene una cálida acogida la propuesta y por primera vez, incluye en la programación a un elenco extranjero: la compañía “La Pajarita de Papel” de Madrid.
En Noviembre de 2007, el festival recibe una Mención Especial otorgada por el jurado del Premio Teatro del Mundo (Ctro. Cultural Ricardo Rojas – Universidad de Bs. As.) en reconocimiento por la producción de las dos ediciones anteriores. En la misma jornada es homenajeado post mortem Miguel Guerberof.
En 2008 llega el III Festival Beckett Buenos Aires, esta vez en el Centro Cultural Borges. Invitados del exterior se presentaron: La Compañía (Londres) representando a Happy Days y la compañía de danza teatro 13Días (España). Otra novedad fue la de incluir en la programación a la banda Obra Inversa que, además de tocar sus canciones, musicalizó en vivo el corto cinematográfico Film, dirigido por Beckett y protagonizado por Buster Keaton. Fue importante el apoyo económico de Proteatro y la Embajada de Irlanda, lo que permitió poder difundir más y mejor al festival.
En 2009 la intensión fue volver a festival más federal. Es por esto que trabajamos junto a teatristas y autoridades de la Municipalidad de Rosario para que el festival tenga su cierre en esa ciudad. Además contamos con la prestigiosa visita de compañías internacionales como los St Lazare Players (Irlanda), Maskara de Teatro (Brasil) Tertulia Proyecto Danza (Chile & UK), junto a la participación de compañías nacionales.
En 2010 nuestra intensión fue la de continuar invitando elencos internacionales (nos visitaron dos elencos de Brasil, entre otros) y la de crear los Premios Godot, que fueron entregados a Alicia Berdaxagar, María Comesaña, Duilio Marzio, Chunchuna Villafañe y a la embajada de Irlanda.
A comienzos de 2011 recibimos como reconocimiento una Mención Especial del Premio María Guerrero. En noviembre realizamos el VI Festival Beckett y tuvimos la vista de una coproducción Colombiano-Irlandesa que presentó “Primer Amor” y, como hecho destacado, presentamos por primera vez en Argentina dos obras: “That Time” (escrita por Samuel Beckett) y “F-” (escrita por Beckett pero firmada por su esposa Suzanne Dumesnil). Además se entregaron por segundo año los Premios Godot a Leonor Manso, Onofre Lovero y Jorge Dubatti.

The Beckett Festival Buenos Aires was created in 2006 on the occasion of celebrating the hundredths anniversary of the birth of Samuel Beckett.
The bar El Banderín was the meeting place of Micguel Guerberof and Patricio Orozco, and since there was imagining and building a tribute that soon became large and was transformed into a festival.
With the support of those who were part of the Beckett Teatro and other directors such as Juan Cosín were scheduled performances of very good standard and great appeal to the public.
In 2006, the first festival had the support of the Chamber of Senators of the Nation.
The 2007 was a very difficult year.On May 12 died Miguel Guerberof, one of the undisputed in the national scene and a key driver for the realization of the firts festival.
The festival, which was to take place in June, was suspended and postponed until August to follow under the direction of Patricio Orozco.
The new headquarters was the Teatro La Carbonera.In this theatre has warmly welcomed the proposal and for the first time the schedule included a cast abroad: the company La Pajarita de Papel from Madrid.
In November 2007, the festival received a Special Mention awarded by Premios Teatro del Mundo (Ctro. Cultural Ricardo Rojas – University of Bs. As.) In appreciation for the production of the two previous editions.At the same evening was honored post-mortem Miguel Guerberof.
In 2008 we embarked on the adventure of producing the 3rd. Beckett Festival Buenos Aires, this time at the Centro Cultural Borges. We were visited by La Compañía (London) representing “Happy Days” and the dance theater company 13Días (Spain).Another innovation was to include in our schedule the band Obra Inversa that, in addition to playing his songs, musicalized live the short film “Film” starring Buster Keaton.It was important support economic Proteatro and the Embassy of Ireland, which allowed us to be able to produce a better festival.
In 2009 our goal was to continue with the scheduling of Argentines and foreigners shows and stage some plays at Rosario, Provincia de Santa Fe. The St Lazare Players (Ireland) visited us and also Maskara Teatro (Brazil) and Tertulia Dance Project (Canada & UK).
In 2010 our intention was to continue inviting international casts (we received two companies from Brazil, among others) and to create the “Godot Awards”, which were given to Alicia Berdaxagar, María Comesaña, Duilio Marzio, Chunchuna Villafañe and the Embassy of Ireland in Buenos Aires.
In 2011, we have received the Maria Guerrero Award.
